 My training and experience

I have been working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy for twenty-five years.  I trained in humanistic psychotherapy and counselling at Spectrum (www.spectrumtherapy.co.uk), a centre for humanistic psychotherapy in North London, where the main theoretical focus is Gestalt and Formative Psychology. I have been working with individuals and couples at Spectrum since 1987. I also work as a supervisor of psychotherapists and counsellors, and have taught on Spectrum’s psychotherapy training programme for many years as well as being Spectrum’s Director of Training from1997 to 2008.  I am accredited with the UKCP (www.psychotherapy.org.uk), am a senior accredited counsellor and supervisor with the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk), and am accredited with the UKRCP (UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I work to the Codes of Ethics of BACP and UKCP as well as to those of Spectrum.  I am a member of the Online Therapy Institute (www.Onlinetherapyinstitute.com) and The International Society for Mental Health Online (www.ISMHO.org) and have been using the telephone for my work for many years, and Skype since 2007.  Prior to my work in the therapeutic field, I worked in  adult education in London for over fifteen years.  I also have a BA Hons in English and American literature and a PhD in social anthropology.

I am in ongoing professional supervision and continued professional development for my work.  I have professional indemnity insurance and operate subject to UK law.
